Tybee Island, Ga is full of things to do, see, and experience, all year round.  One of the residents as well as the visitors favorite things to do is take a dophin cruise where either a couple or an entire family can experience what it’s like to watch these magnificent creatures swim and play in the ocean!

Not only will you have the opportunity to see dolphins on these cruises, but also watch for other wildlife like sea turtles, birds, and other surprises!

Captain Mike’s Dolphin Tours
The first of the top two dolphin cruises on Tybee Island is Captain Mike’s Dolphin Tours.  Each and every year since 2003, Captain Mike’s has been voted Tybee’s best adventure tour by Tybee Breeze readers!  Lazaretto Creek Marina and Captain Mike’s Dolphin Tours have been family owned and operated since 1992, offering the best in dolphin tours, sunset cruises, and inshore and deep sea fishing.

The dolphin tour departs daily from Lazaretto Creek Marina, heading toward the Atlantic ocean, passing by shrimp boats and boat docks that portray the charm of an old fishing village.  The boat passes by the Cockspur lighthouse, offering a view of historic Fort Pulaski.  Approaching the North Beach of Tybee, the tour provides a scenic view of the Tybee Lighthouse.

The tour lasts approximately one to one and half hours, depending on where the dolphins are playing, with rates being only $15.00 for adults and $8.00 for children, 12 and under.  Reservations are recommended as these tours fill up fast!

Captain Derek’s Dolphin Adventure
The second of the top two dolphin cruises on Tybee Island is Captain Derek’s Dolphin Adventure, located mere miles from the 17th Street Inn!  Home of the only boat on Tybee Island that is a wave creating dolphin surfing machine, you can watch the dolphins play and jump right by the boat, as well as swim gently in their natural habitat.

During the dolphin tour, you will enjoy such sights as Fort Pulaski, Cockspur Lighthouse and Tybee Lighthouse, barrier islands and the Brown Pelican.  The boat is coast guard approved for 45 people at one time, so it would be in your best interest to make reservations ahead of time.  Admission rates are $15.00 for adults and $8.00 for children, and the tour will last between 1 and 1.5 hours.

With all there is to do on Tybee Island, taking a dolphin tour is one of the must do events!
