Whether you are just getting ready to put your home up for sale or it’s been on the market for a few months, there are a few things you can do that will help it to sell faster. Your home needs to stand out from the rest and allow potential buyers to see themselves living there. Here are a few tips I have that will help you sell your home and move forward with the next step in your life!
The first impression a potential buyer will have of your home is the curb appeal. It is important to make sure the lawn is freshly mowed, weeds are removed, and it looks clean. Enhancing the curb appeal doesn’t have to break the bank. A few easy and inexpensive projects you can do in a weekend are painting the front door, trim, or shutters, and adding a few flower pots to the entry way, welcoming in those buyers.
A buyer needs to be able to see themselves living in your home, so remove your family photos and personal decorations. You’ll also want to keep the accessories to a minimum, as they tend to distract buyers from actually seeing the space.
When it comes to the furniture, start by arranging the main pieces in a conversational way. If at all possible, remove any furniture that creates clutter or is too large for the space. A great way to change your outdated or worn furniture without buying new is to use slip covers. Slip covers give you a less expensive alternative, and can transform the look of your space.
Buyers love closet space! Preparing to sell is a great time to clean out the closets to declutter, organize, and make them appear as large as possible. It is important for every room in your home to be clean, clutter free, and organized. Be sure to clean all of the windows on the inside and outside to let in as much natural light as possible.
